Input Wanted!

Okay. Is there anybody out there? Mayday mayday! I am curious as to what, YOU, the person reading this blog, wants. Besides announcements. There’s something slightly off-putting about that. It feels immodest and boastful. Yeah--I know, those of you who know me will be shocked to hear I have some restraint in the area of “self indulgent crowing” but its true.

So whatchoo want? More pictures? Work in progress (that's what the image above is.) Some ranting and raving about the meaning of life and art? FOR EXAMPLE: yesterday, perhaps on the toilet, or the elliptical trainer at the gym or some other mind transporting experience, I had the thought that “Painting wasn’t killed dead forever by...the invention of the camera...or the rebellion of the Salon De Refusee or the separation of church and state or the whatever...painting was made instantly obsolete when the first alphabet was invented. Blame it on Linear B!” More of that type of pseudo philosophical musing?

Please let me know what you would like to see more of in this blog by adding a comment. And if there are no comments I shall have to assume I am talking to myself...how embarrassing!

Please check out my friend Andy Prieboy's new songs at his website. Andy and I have had a longstanding friendship as well as a "collaboration" of sorts—I am very, very proud and extremely honored to be associated with him—he's a true genius!!!

I did a cover for his ep "Montezuma Was a Man of Faith" in the 1990's and when his book "Psycho Ex" (with Merrill Markoe) came out, he offered up images of my work as alternative dust jackets available for download. Read this book—its really hilarious and well written. BUT—even better: check out his music. Andy is an AMAZING artist with a unique style all his own. The lyrics go from scathing indictments of humanity at its silly most infuriating worst to generous empathetic portraits of people and situations. The music is eclectic—something like show tunes from an intellectual, new wave hell, put through a blender with blues, gospel, funk and punk and spun around for about ten minutes on "puree". By the way—I would check out "Pricks Up Front" and "Bands" as a starter, if you are unfamiliar with Andy's music. You will so NOT be sorry!!!

Glass: The UrbanGlass Art Quarterly

Hey Kiddies!
I am on the cover of the winter issue of Glass Quarterly!!!
It should be out on the news stands now...there's lots of pictures and an interview. I am really pleased with the interview...I actually recognize myself (always a plus)...and the questions were great.

New Piece

"Self Portrait of Someone Else" is now viewable here.

The design was inspired by this amazing window here.
For those of you who've been remiss in your stained glass education: many windows were smashed because of the Protestant Reformation  (reform works in mysterious ways....)  The windows were later rebuilt as these sort of post modern collages.  This Flikr set is from Holy  Trinity Church in Lincolnshire England and is a spectacular example of "jumble windows".  It seems evident the restorer had quite a vision...
